This Week’s Ingredients are:
-
Porterhouse Pork Chops
-
Asparagus
-
Oranges
Growing up on a hog farm most of the protein in our diets was from pork. I happen to really love pork chops but after I moved away from home and tasted super market pork, that was cooked until it tasted like wallpaper, I began to understand the strong dislike of some. I promise to not deliver you a hockey puck pork chop recipe! 🙂
Asparagus has to be one of the most rewarding and effortless vegetables I have ever grown. A little bit of effort year one and 2-3 years of delayed gratification later you have a beautiful bed of asparagus that rewards you every year with next to no maintainence. I have always planted a bed in the many places I have lived and am hopeful the next owners have found it a nice surprise every spring. If they don’t like asparagus then, well in the words of my kindergartener “sorry ‘bout dhat!” On another note the for mentioned 5-year-old HATES asparagus so I’m already prepping for the dinner table negotiations…
Oranges are one of the very few things I enjoy about winter. I have always wanted to live in an area where I could have a citrus tree! Meyer lemons I have done and enjoy but the day dream of stepping outdoors to pick my own orange lives on! Mimosas are my Sunday fun day crew leader and for that alone oranges are high on my list of favs!
I hope you check back on Tuesday to see what I have created for my supper and as always, I would love to see what you have made so “SnapYourSupper” and be sure to use the hashtag #snapyoursupper!
