This week’s snap your supper ingredients are:
-
Oysters
-
Pears
-
Tarragon
Oysters alluded me growing up in the midwest. I never had the opportunity to taste fresh oysters until college spring break landed me on the coast. Every Christmas my aunt and uncle would bring oyster stew and I loved it so I was very eager to try these magical mollusks. The first bite had me hooked. Briny and utter perfection requiring no utensils oysters are indeed my favorite party appetizer and beer companion.
A perfectly juicy pear is sometimes hard to find. I am always required to break out the math skills when at the grocers to calculate exactly when I will be able to eat them at their peak. Okay hard as a rock now by T plus X days it will be perfection! I laugh because I just had to explain to my daughter that “yes you will use math daily in every task!”
Tarragon is a garden hero as it is a perennial herb and grows like crazy. I always think of my kids whenever I add it to a dish as cornichons are one of their absolute favorite snacks and tarragon is the prominent flavor when canning them. Tarragon provides a subtly herb flavor that kicks up eggs and any fish dish you might come up with!
I hope you check back on Tuesday to see what I have created for my supper and as always, I would love to see what you have made so “SnapYourSupper” and be sure to use the hashtag #snapyoursupper![bctt tweet=”This week’s ingredients are oysters, pears & tarragon. #snapyoursupper to share what you would make with these and check back Tuesday for my recipe!” username=”snapyoursupper”]
